Largely Georgian but dating back to the 17th Century, Heddon House is one of the finest homes in the Tyne Valley, west of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, in rural Northumberland, North East England. Fully restored to its historic grandeur, Melanie Brown’s great achievement here is in combining historic features with contemporary elegance and style, showing to best effect the owners’ magnificent art collection, which includes pieces sourced for the house by Melanie via her international network of artists.

Heddon House, Northumberland

Although largely Georgian, Heddon House dates back to the 17th century. It was purchased by the current owner in the early 21st century and the main house has been completely restored. Quality, originality and attention to detail were key to creating an elegant, artistic interior to complement the style and era of the house.

The stairwell is intrinsically beautiful owing to the flood of natural light that flows from a tall triple Venetian window. The only thing required here was a feature colour to create a stunning finish.

The dining room is at the rear of the property and benefits from a beautiful original Georgian fireplace, which we lovingly restored. A hidden door detail connects the dining room to the drawing room effortlessly. The client required a dining table to seat ten. In response we designed this stunning Madagascar ebony edged table with matching console.
