Borthwick Castle, Edinburgh, UK

Borthwick Castle Edinburgh, UK, built in 1430, Grade A listed building ,and the final residence of Mary Queen of Scots before her capture and execution is now a unique luxury destination. Restored to its medieval grandeur and afforded five-star 21st Century comfort during a major 18 month interior design project by Melanie Brown.

Built by Sir William de Borthwick, a Scottish ambassador to England and a renowned member of the ancient Borthwick family, this is known internationally as the finest keep in Scotland. During 18 months working exclusively on-site alongside the owners, specialist historians and her own international network of artisans and craftspeople, Melanie Brown created an outstanding luxury retreat to delight Borthwick’s new generation of discerning guests who can now hire the castle for private holidays, events, and weddings.

The castle now comprises 10 magnificent bedrooms, imposing yet intimate dining and drawing rooms, historic halls and staircases which combine the best in contemporary luxury with magnificent history.
