Borthwick Castle, built in 1430 by Sir William de Borthwick, and the final residence of Mary Queen of Scots before her capture, is now a unique luxury destination, restored to its medieval grandeur and afforded five star 21st Century comfort during a major 18-month interior design project by Melanie Brown.

During 18 months working exclusively on site alongside the owners, specialist historians, and her own international network of artisans and craftspeople, Melanie Brown has created an outstanding luxury retreat to delight Borthwick’s new generation of discerning guests who can now hire the castle for private holidays, events, and weddings.
